Baumit acquires Cantillana

Baumit Cantillana

We are happy to inform you that we could successfully advise Baumit on entering into a partnership with Cantillana, resulting in a 100% acquisition of the facade business in France, consisting of a dry mortar plant near Avignon and four sales locations in Lille, Nancy, Metz and Lyon.

THE PARTNERS

The Baumit Group, which is family-owned in Austria, achieved a turnover of around EUR 1 billion in 2017 with all its subsidiaries in a total of 27 countries. Baumit is part of Schmid Industrieholding, which generated sales of EUR 1.7 billion with around 5,900 employees as of 31.12.2017.

Cantillana is a family owned manufacturer of construction materials based in Deurle Beligium with facilities in Belgium, France and Germany.

With this acquisition, Baumit is now producing for the first time in France since entering the market 30 years ago. Together with the existing sales locations near Paris and Lyon, the company’s comprehensive distribution network and the production site generate sales of almost EUR 20 million. All 50 employees of Cantillana will be taken over and additional staff will be hired for further expansion.

With around 30 million households, France is clearly one of our strategic markets. Particularly in conurbations such as Paris, many residential buildings have virtually no thermal insulation. We also want to be present in France with our innovations and help shape the market. With the acquired production site and the expanded sales network, we will be able to do this more quickly, says Baumit CEO, Robert Schmid.
