New York Pizza acquires Pizza Planet and Flying Pizza

New York Pizza Pizza Planet Flying Pizza

We are proud to announce that we have successfully advised New York Pizza in the acquisition of two further pizza chains, Pizza Planet and Flying Pizza. In total, New York Pizza has grown to +100 stores within a few months and is on the way to becoming the #2 in the German market.

THE PARTNERS

Pizza Planet has more than 30 outlets concentrated in the suburbs of Berlin. Flying Pizza has 43 outlets focused in the northern and eastern parts of Germany. Earlier in September, Sazun also advised New York Pizza on the acquisition of Stückwerk.

The three acquisitions grow New York Pizza’s coverage to 342 franchise-operated stores, out of which 234 are located in the Netherlands, 107 in Germany and one in Belgium.

Earlier in June 2021, New York Pizza was acquired by the Norwegian conglomerate, Orkla ASA, which owns Kotipizza, the Finnish pizza brand operating 289 locations.

OUR CONTRIBUTION

Sazun advised New York Pizza across all the steps of the transaction, including market research, the scouting of opportunities, valuation, the negotiation of the deal structure and the coordination of the due diligence, up to the final closing actions. We would like to heavily emphasise the great collaboration with the legal team from ARQIS, led by Dr. Jörn-Christian Schulze and Christos Choudeloudis and the financial due diligence team from KPMG Netherlands, led by Erwin Kok and Tatiana Leunissen.
